Wooden Bat Cla

Bob Wagner’s Annual Wooden Bat Classic uses Fort Myers’ original major league complex, historic Terry Park Stadium along with its three adjacent fields, to host the teams and individuals playing in the event. The Wooden Bat Classic is played during the last full week of January and designed for players who are 30 years of age and older. The next Wooden Bat Classic will take place January 21-26, 2019.

The Cy Young and Red Oldham divisions will begin play January 21st. The Cy Young teams are geared towards players who are younger than the average WBC player while the Red Oldham players are generally over the average age of a typical WBC player. Players of any age can play in both divisions. Teams are scheduled to play seven 8-inning games (weather permitting) using a round robin format. The top teams from the Cy Young and Red Oldham divisions will qualify for the playoffs and playoff are determined by the number of teams competing in each division.

A catered dinner for both divisions will be held at the Terry Park picnic pavilion and is included with the fee. Family and guests are welcome to attend the dinner for a nominal fee.

Bob Wagner's WBC is a proud sponsor of the Tri-County Challenger Baseball League and is the official charity of the WBC. Since WBC's inception in 1997, it has been a tradition for players to make monetary contributions to provide much needed uniforms and equipment to this worthwhile program. Prior to Saturday's January 26th games, the WBC hosts a game with the Tri-County Challenger League with Wooden Bat players participating as "buddies". The Challenger Divison of Little League is a program for boys and girls, who, due to physical and mental challenges, are not mainstreamed into regular Little League.
